Dear Parents and Carers
It has been a good week for Hardenhuish in several ways!
I am delighted to announce that our School Parliament has been awarded the 2026 Chippenham Town Council Civic Award for their work both within our Hardenhuish and wider community. This is a fantastic achievement and is a real accolade for their continued efforts and commitment to improving not only our school but making a difference across Chippenham and beyond. Massive congratulations to them, our Student Leadership Team who set such a wonderful example to our younger parliamentarians in their leadership of this, and Mrs Auld for all of her support and encouragement of our young people to play their role in society.
Linked to this, it is Charity Week next week and Parliament have come up with some wonderful activities to raise money alongside having some fun! Thank you in advance for supporting these activities and helping us to raise money for our Hardenhuish50 campaign.
Congratulations go to Anisia Rusu in Year 11 who has also won the Young Person Individual Category Civic Award for her volunteering at The Rise Trust, which was our school charity for 2025. It is wonderful for our young people to be recognised for their achievements outside of school so please do share any successes for us to include in the Headlines.
I would also like to congratulate the Year 10 who have been amazing in their mock exams. They have received high praise from everyone involved and should be very proud of the maturity and positive attitudes they have shown which will, I am sure, pay off in their results.
Congratulations also go to the Year 9 football team who have won the area championships!
Thank you to everyone involved in supporting our young people in all of these successes.

Focus on… Activity Day 2026
Following on from our previous Focus on Trips and Visits, where we talked about the value and importance of opportunities outside of the classroom and beyond the school site, we like to end our year with an Activity Day for Years 7-9. This gives an opportunity for each year group to celebrate their year and have a positive end to the academic year, setting them up positively for the beginning of the next academic year. Our Learning Managers come up with activities which they think their year groups will enjoy being mindful of keeping the costs as manageable as possible. The trips were launched towards the end of Term 4 and the deadline for signing up is 1 May. Year 9 will be visiting Longleat, Year 8 are visiting Chessington World of Adventures and Year 7 will be doing a bushcraft day on the Badminton Estate and further details will follow. We would encourage all young people to participate in these whole year group trips, but we will be offering an alternative on-site activity for those young people in Year 7, 8 and 9 not attending the off-site trips. If you have any questions regarding Activity Day, please direct these to Year Teams in the first instance.
Y9 Business Pet Projects

Last term in Business, our entrepreneurial Year 9 pupils took part in a team project to design a pet product for Jollyes Pet Store. Pupils came up with a range of exciting product ideas and presented these on creative mood boards. The entries were then judged by members of the team at Jollyes Pet Store in Chippenham, who were extremely impressed by the innovative ideas. Very well done to all pupils involved!
