Hardenhuish Headlines

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to Term 1 of the 2024/5 academic year and a very warm welcome if you are new to Hardenhuish.

I hope that you have had a good summer break and the beginning of term has gone well for you and your young people.

I would like to start by recognising and celebrating the amazing achievements of our young people in their GCSE and A Level exams. Results days were a lovely opportunity to share in their celebrations. I am looking forward to Year 13 Awards evening next Thursday when we celebrate their achievements and wish them well for their future adventures. The Year 11 Awards take place in Term 2.

The pupils and students have returned well and there has been a very focussed and positive atmosphere around site. It has been lovely to welcome the new Year 7 and 12 earlier in the week and to see them feeling so at home and enjoying Hardenhuish already. A reminder with the change in the weather that pupils should bring (and wear!) a waterproof coat. Thank you for your support of our high expectations with uniform as we begin the year.

We have included below the first draft of our extra-curricular opportunities for this term to ensure that young people can start getting involved but there will be updates as we settle in to term.

When dropping off or collecting your young person at the end of the school day, please can I remind you:

  • Unless agreed otherwise by the school, all pupils should be dropped off/collect at the drop off zone. Please be mindful when parking here to ensure that emergency services would be able to gain access if required.
  • In order to keep our school community safe during busy times of the day, please do not drive through the school site at the beginning or end of the day.
  • Please do not collect or drop off in the passing bays as this causes congestion, prevents cars from passing and increases the risk of accidents.
  • Do not park on or by any of the crossings so that young people crossing can be clearly seen.
  • If you do need to drive on to the site, please be respectful of the restricted speed limit.

Thank you for your support in keeping our site and community as safe as possible.

Have a good weekend and thank you for your support in making the beginning of this term and school year so positive.
