Hardenhuish Headlines

Dear Parents and Carers

I am delighted that our Charity Week last week raised over £2500. Thank you for your generosity.

It has been lovely to open the field this week and see the young people making the most of our beautiful site at lunchtimes – long may the warm and dry weather continue!

The Dance Showcase on Tuesday was a fantastic evening and gave our dancers the opportunity to show off their amazing talents. Thank you to Miss Birchall for all of the hard work that went in to preparing our young people for the event and all of those staff who supported both front and backstage to make the evening such a success.

A big thank you to all of the staff that have run and accompanied trips and visits so far this year. Our young people are very lucky to have so many opportunities to enjoy experiences outside of the classroom which make their time at Hardenhuish so memorable.

I hope that you have a restful Easter break and remember we return for Term 5 on Tuesday 22nd April.

‘Be Tick Aware’

UKHSA is encouraging people to ‘be tick aware’ this tick season.

Ticks can be active all year round, but they are most active in the months April to July.

As the warmer weather encourages more of us to be out and about enjoying the great outdoors, the UK Health Security Agency are encouraging we are ‘tick aware’. This includes knowing where ticks are found, how to reduce the risk of being bitten and how to remove them safely and quickly as some tick bites can result in infections such as Lyme disease.

Find out more on the UK Health Security Agency’s blog, link below.

Year 7 Football Success

It’s been a fantastic football season for the Year 7 girls, with an impressive string of results that truly reflect the hard work from training and determination of the team. The progress being made each week is clear to see—not just in skills and tactics, but in confidence and cohesion on the pitch. We have concluded our season with two strong wins against Abbeyfield and Sheldon, where the teamwork on display was truly outstanding, with every player supporting one another and contributing to the group’s growing success. Well done girls, and we can’t wait for next season!

Gymnastics

Year 9 pupil Kaci Sweeney recently competed as a first-year junior at the British championships in Liverpool. She started strong having a clean beam, bars and vault but took an uncharacteristic fall on floor – but carried on smiling, enjoying her weekend and finishing strong.

Kaci is one of 5 girls in the country to represent Scotland in an international competition in Portugal: a massive achievement in her gymnastics career – well done Kaci!

Temporary School Bus Changes

Starting Monday 7 April until Friday 9 May 2025, the road between Foscote and Yatton Keynell will be closed. This closure is required to allow Wessex Water to carry out main laying and associated works. Please see attached closure notice and plans for more details.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of these works, Wessex Water are unable to provide the school bus with access through the road closure. The first two weeks of these works will be during the Easter school holidays, therefore starting Tuesday 22 April until Friday 9 May your child’s school bus will operate the below timetable.
