Dear Parents
Our young people have had the opportunity to visit the Careers Fair during lunchtimes this week when we have welcomed over thirty employers who have come to discuss the careers options available for them in the future. It has been great to hear from employers how positive, confident and interested our young people have been in discussing all the world of work has to offer. It was also lovely to welcome back a number of Hardenhuish Alumni too!
We have hosted and attended a number of sporting fixtures and as always it is good to hear about and see our young people being so keen to participate in these fantastic extra-curricular opportunities.
Huge congratulations to the School Parliament who have got their fundraising off to such a good start and raised over £1000 Last week for our school charities, The Teenage Cancer Trust and Dorothy House.
Our plans for the redevelopment of the gym are moving ahead at speed and we are excited about the further opportunities this will open up as you will see in the pictures and article from Mr Brailey below. Please see details below of the Christmas Fayre and Raffle which we hope will kick-start our fundraising to bring the changing facilities up to the same standards that the Gym will be in the very near future. Any help and support with this either in terms of fundraising (e.g. helping out at the Fayre, donating a prize for the raffle or buying some tickets) or at a practical level will be gratefully received.
Have a good long weekend with TD Day tomorrow.

CHRISTMAS RAFFLE 2023
As part of our ongoing fundraising efforts, the Friends of Hardenhuish have launched our Christmas Raffle for 2023. This year we are raising funds for a very exciting project; completing a new fitness suite in the school’s gymnasium and refurbishment of the changing rooms. We are delighted to be able to offer a star prize of a Dyson V15 Absolute cordless vacuum cleaner, RRP £699, courtesy of the James Dyson Foundation.
We also have a number of other prizes such as a family ticket to Bowood, an Oral B electric toothbrush and WHSmith vouchers, however, in order to boost sales, we welcome any additional prizes that you may be willing to donate. If you have connections with any companies who are willing to offer us a prize for the raffle (such as tickets to events or vouchers for money off) or if you would like to donate something personally like a Christmas hamper or wine or chocolates, we would be very grateful. Please email events@hardenhuish.wilts.sch.uk to let us know if you can help.
Tickets for the raffle can be purchased via Arbor and the grand draw will be made at the Christmas Fayre on Friday 8 December.
Many thanks for your continued support.
A Carer Friendly School Award
Hardenhuish School was thrilled to welcome Clare McClaren, from Carer Support Wiltshire and who is also an ex-pupil. Clare presented our Young Carer Ambassador, Kelsie, with our Carer – Friendly School Award in recognition for the work we are doing to support our Young Carers. Clare said “Its wonderful to see that there is so much support now for Young Carers.” She recalled how, many years ago as a pupil, she did not share the important role she did at home with others and instead got behind with school work, dropped some subjects and found sanctuary in the Art room. She said that Art was her therapy and having gained a GCSE she went on to do a diploma in Art. “If only my role as a Young Carer was recognised then and I got the support pupils have today.”
Our Young Carers participated in an Art Day in October and created a stunning mural based upon “Friendship Circles”. In March we celebrated National Young Carers Day with whole school events.
Hardenhuish has a dedicated email address for Young Carers , a noticeboard of events and runs weekly Drop-In sessions. All are welcome.

Hardenhuish Gym Development
The PE department are excited to announce that we have managed to secure funding to redevelop the school’s gym. We will be working with Wiltshire and Swindon Sport and Absolute Performance to turn the school current gymnasium into a professional and fully equipped fitness suite.
Students in all year groups will be able to benefit from this exciting project through their curriculum lessons and there will also be extensive opportunities for use in terms of extra-curricular. The PE curriculum will also now be redeveloped to incorporate this new space. Exciting times ahead for the PE department.

Show Jumping at West Wilts – Sunday 19 November 2023
Dauntsey’s School hosted the NSEA show jumping last weekend. The team in Class 3. 90-95 cms, comprised of Amelia N, Louisa N. and Faith L. With only 3 in the team all scores had to count. Faith riding Ballinlough Kevin took some risks and made some incredibly tight turns whilst Amelia rode a borrowed horse and despite having only ridden him a couple of times, competently rode a clear round. Louisa rode a stylish round on Faith’s other grey horse, Thunder . It was an excellent result and the team came 2nd out of about 20 teams. Amelia was 4th individual and Louisa was 5th as an individual . Faith rode Kevin again in Class 4 1m and was 2nd and only 0.34 seconds behind the winner. Well done Faith, a fantastic result.
Congratulations to our team. The girls turned out on a very windy and damp Sunday morning and gave it their all!
