Dear Parents
I can’t believe that we have reached the end of the academic year! It has certainly been a year full of experiences and opportunities for us a school and for each and every young person and member of staff. Thank you for your support throughout.
It was lovely to meet our new Year 7 as a cohort last Friday and I am looking forward to all they will achieve in their time at Hardenhuish.
Activity Day tomorrow gives us the opportunity to end the year on a high and a big thank you to you as parents and all of the staff for supporting this.
Year 9 set off for Alton Towers this morning with those remaining in Chippenham having an exciting Mission Impossible based activity and cinema trip.
Year 8 are off to Longleat tomorrow and Year 7 have a Problem Solving Day on site. Alternative activities are also taking place more locally including golf, climbing, cricket, board games and an artist-in-a-shoe-box activity.
I hope that the Year 10 and 12 have had a good week on Work Experience, I certainly enjoyed my visits to some of our young people and am sure that they will all come back full of stories of their experiences.
Please see below positive news about our Silver Healthy Schools Award with work now well under way for the Gold Award. Please also see a letter we have been asked to pass on from the Police regarding E-scooters.
A reminder that Friday 1 September is a Training and Development Day so no pupils are expected in school. Monday 4 September is induction day for the new Years 7 and 12 with the whole school returning to begin the year on Tuesday 5 September.
Thank you for your support throughout this year. Have a restful and enjoyable summer break and I look forward to welcoming our young people back to Hardenhuish ready for the 2023/4 school year in September.

Key Centre Thank You Tea Party
Pupils who have been supported by the Key Centre put on a lavish high tea for staff who have worked with them this year. They planned, cooked and prepared everything themselves. They also made thank you cards and hosted the event. The food was delicious and the pupils hosted beautifully, explaining what and how they had made the feast. Well done all!
Sports Day 2023
Well done to everyone who took part in Sports Day, we had lovely weather and some exceptional performances across the day! The standard is always high and us staff are always blown away with the effort from all pupils who participate to make it such a special event. There were outstanding performances across all age groups and we would like to give a special mention to those pupils who stepped up outside their comfort zone and competed for their tutor groups!
The winning tutor groups were as follows:

Year 7 Rounders
Last Tuesday 11th July our year 7 rounders teams met Sheldon and Corsham for a friendly tournament. The weather held off for them to have a few games before rain stopped play, but both teams won all of their matches convincingly. The standard of play and effective decision making was fantastic to see, as well as some great hits! Well done to everyone involved for such an excellent performance. What an awesome way to end the year!
Hardenhuish Black Belts
It takes courage and determination to complete challenges in life and recently three of Hardenhuish students showed what they were made of! Lucy Rogers (Year 9), Emily Rogers (Year 7) and Thomas Elliot (Year 10) travelled to Telford to complete their blackbelt assessment in British Military Martial Arts (BMMA). A full day of training including a written test, fitness test including sit ups and press ups, cross country run with hill climbs which was followed by the toughest afternoon sparring other students in full contact. The three then followed up on the second day with more training and then a demonstration of their technical abilities in front of senior black belt instructors. All three excelled throughout and were proudly awarded their black belts on Sunday afternoon. Thanks to Samuel Roach (Year 10 pupil who has already completed his black belt) and others from the Chippenham BMMA school for all their support. Congratulations Lucy, Emily and Thomas.
