Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you to everyone who attended the Year 13 Governors Awards last night and helped make it such a lovely occasion. It was so good to be able to wish Year 13 well as they embark on their next adventures. A lovely Hardenhuish moment when Ben won the Robert Alderman Trophy for Maths and Computing that his Dad had won in 1990 – and now both their names are on the plaque!
If you are a Key Stage 3 parent, you will have seen the letter last week regarding After School Care Club. We have reinstated this directly as a result of parental feedback. Please sign your child up via Arbor if you would like to make use of this.
When dropping off or collecting your child at the end of the school day, please could we ask the that the following are adhered to:
- Unless agreed otherwise by the school, all pupils should only be dropped off/collected at the drop off zone – this will become important when our barriers are installed at October half term
- In order to keep our school community safe please can we ask that you do not drive through the school site at the beginning or end of the day.
- Please do not collect or drop off in the passing bays, as this could cause congestion, prevent cars from passing and increase the risk of an accident.
- Do not park by/on any of the crossings so that pupils using the crossings can be clearly seen.
- Please be respectful of the restricted speed limit whilst driving onsite.

Focus on …Behaviour
At Hardenhuish School we know that good behaviour is essential if the school is to look after the wellbeing of the school community and to improve the attainment of all pupils. We know that learning happens best if teachers are able to teach in a calm atmosphere, free from disruption.
To help with this we have our ‘Non-Negotiables’, which make clear the expectations that help to make our school a safe, respectful and successful place to learn. They aren’t designed to catch anyone out, but they are intended to make sure that everyone can learn without distraction and feel proud to be part of our community.
We always appreciate your help with promoting positive behaviour in school, and parents and carers can support their young people to meet the non-negotiables by encouraging them to be punctual, take responsibility for their behaviour (including helping to make sure that uniform is correct and that pupils follow our mobile phone policy), be prepared, respectful and be engaged learners. By working together, we can ensure that every pupil is supported to thrive in a calm, respectful and purposeful learning environment.
Wiltshire Council Family and Community Learning Courses for Parents/Carers
Wiltshire Council are offering *free online sessions are designed to support parents and carers in understanding anxiety and school-related challenges that can affect children and young people. Participants will gain practical tips and strategies to help them provide positive support at home.

Understanding School Anxiety: Early Signs of Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)

An opportunity for parents and carers to learn about the early signs of school anxiety, practical support strategies, and ask questions to an Educational Psychologist.

Courses are no cost to learners who meet our eligibility criteria. Learners must be aged 19+ years, have a Wiltshire postcode, and meet residency requirements. Learners must also be able to tick one of the following criteria: individual income less than £26,800 a year; in receipt of benefits (other than child benefit); be a care leaver, foster carer or carer; be a military family or ex-armed forces personnel; have refugee or asylum seeker status; have a learning difficulty or disability; be looking to work, now or in the future.

County Hockey Selection
Brody Scutt has recently been selected to represent Wiltshire in county hockey as the U14 Boys goalkeeper. This follows a fantastic start to his first season playing adult hockey with Chippenham Hockey Club.
A brilliant achievement – huge congratulations to Brody!
