At Hardenhuish School we aim to promote positive mental health and wellbeing for our whole school community (children, staff and parents), and recognise how important mental health and emotional wellbeing is to our lives in just the same way as physical health. We recognise that children’s mental health is a crucial factor in their overall wellbeing and can affect their learning and achievement.

We make sure that we consider wellbeing in all decisions that we make and have included wellbeing as part of our school development plan for a number of years. Wellbeing is vital in supporting our pupils to succeed.  Over their time at Hardenhuish School they will have timetabled lessons specifically focussing on supporting, promoting and improving their wellbeing as part of the successful lives programme; we aspire for all our pupils to be mentally and physically healthy, to have the necessary awareness to make healthy decisions, to engage positively with the community and be ready for the future.

In recognition of all of our hard work and continual focus on wellbeing, we gain accreditation for the wellbeing award for school in association with the National Children’s Bureau.

“Wellbeing is not just a paper policy for Hardenhuish. We have seen in practice that they ‘walk the talk’ in the case of both of our children”
