A special feature of the Hardenhuish curriculum is that we offer a range of option subjects which pupils study in Year 9. This gives pupils the opportunity to try subjects which they might want to do for GCSE and spend more time doing subjects that they enjoy and find interesting.
It also gives pupils experience of making good choices so that they are better placed to make well informed decisions when they choose their GCSE subjects next year. The Year 9 options process is launched to Year 8 pupils in a tutor period held in March. Subject teachers will also present more information during lesson time about the courses on offer. Parents and pupils will be invited to attend a special Year 8 Parent Information, Advice and Guidance Meeting in March when further information about the Year 9 options will be provided.
