Dear Parents

It has been lovely to see so many young people and their parents in school this week for check in conversations. I hope that they have helped to pave the way for our return in September. I will be in a position to share more details around our new ways of working and what the return in September will look like at Hardenhuish early next week.

A couple of wellbeing updates. Please find here an updated NHS poster helping parents look out for the signs their child may have an eating disorder, as well as where to go for help and support if you find yourself in this position.

Young people who think they may be a young carer and need some extra support, and parents/carers who think their child may be a young carer, can now self-refer to Wiltshire Council for an assessment by calling 0300 4560108 or emailing MASH@wiltshire.gov.uk.  Once the referral is received it will be allocated to a practitioner who will contact the family an arrange a visit.  The assessment is holistic and will look at what support can be offered to the family. If the young person is deemed a young carer and their caring responsibilities are having an impact on their day to day lives then a referral will be made to Carer Support Wiltshire, who provide support for Young Carers in Wiltshire. If you have any questions or would like support with the referral, then please contact your child’s pastoral manager in the first instance who will be able to help.

The Wiltshire Library Service would be very grateful of your input to a survey regarding the re-opening of libraries and what would best suit the community: http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/libraries-news

We have added a directory of activities available during the summer to the Parent Support page on our website and is available to download from the Council website http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/schools-learning-coronavirus

A huge number of our pupils have engaged really well in their home learning since lockdown began in March, and we have been making regular contact with parents of those pupils to pass on our praise for these fantastic efforts. To further celebrate the pupils who have consistently appeared on our weekly analysis as having very few or no issues logged with home learning, we will be holding a raffle next week where pupils will have a chance to win one of ten £20 Amazon vouchers. Pupils who have appeared on our positive lists in any given week, will receive an entry into this electronic raffle. The more times pupils have been on our positive lists, the more entries into the raffle they will receive. We will let the winners know next week and email the vouchers home before the end of term.

Have a restful weekend and I apologise in advance for the increased communication next week but I am keen that you are all informed to ensure as smooth a start back as possible in September.

Kind regards
