Welcome back to Term 6!
The various exams continue this week and also include the end of Key Stage 3 exams for Year 9 for this week and next. Well done to all pupils and students for their continued focus on their exams and to the rest of the school for being so supportive of keeping the site calm and purposeful while the exams take place.
It was a pleasure to welcome Tina Jones from Microsoft yesterday who came to look at the wonderful work that we are doing as part of our Showcase School status.
It has been great to walk around the site during Cross Curricular Day today and I look forward to hearing all about the activities that pupils have been involved in.
I wish our D of E explorers luck as they complete their assessed expedition this weekend.
Year 7 Boys Football
On the Thursday before half term, the Year 7 boys played some excellent football to win for the second consecutive year at the Wooten Bassett 7-a-side football tournament. The final was a 3-0 victory against Abbey Park school and all boys were a credit to the school. Well done to all involved!
Year 7 Athletics
On Wednesday, the Year 7 Hardenhuish and Sheldon pupils met in the middle of the field for their first athletics meet of the season. The events were based on the track with 100m, 200m, 800m and 1200m races. Pupils also got the chance to take part in the relay events at the end. The focus was on participation but it was great to see everyone really challenge and push themselves to try and get their best scores possible. Particular congratulations must go to Finn Fielder, Hugo Pritchard, Henri Contineau, Isabelle Watt, Holly Parker and Isabelle Chappell for coming first in their individual races.
Everyone involved in a race were awarded points depending on their position. The boys team won their event and the Sheldon girls won theirs. It was a fantastic opportunity for the Year 7s to experience a competitive athletics event, especially for those athletes who will be taking part in the Area Athletics being held next week at Bath University.
The PE department would also like to thank the sixth formers who gave up their time to help support the event, they did an amazing job and were a credit to the school.
