Hardenhuish Headlines

Dear Parents

It has been an absolute joy to welcome the “I can, I am” bus to Hardenhuish this week to work with our Year 8 pupils. This has followed on from the inspirational and motivational talks that James Shone has given to our young people over the last couple of weeks. Thank you to James and the charity for their support and encouragement of our young people who have reported finding both experiences enjoyable and positive.

The Hardenhuish Educational Trust met this week to make their term 3 awards, one of which was to boost the Lego club supplies. If you have any Lego that needs a new home, please bring this to reception and if you would like to donate to the trust either as a one-off or on a regular basis for future projects please see the attached flyer.

As the evenings become lighter it was great to see numerous football matches being played across the field after school yesterday. There have been more sporting successes this week which I am sure will be reported in the Headlines over the coming weeks. My thanks go to the PE staff who support and encourage our young people with so many incredible extra-curricular sports and activities.

Thank you also to Mr Dawson for organising STEM week which has given the opportunity for us to consider the role of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths more closely with a range of activities for young people to get involved with throughout the week.

Year 13 begin their mocks on Monday and we wish them well as they enter this next phase of their preparations for their A Levels in the summer.

A communication regarding the planned strike action next Monday will follow later today.

Have a good weekend.

FutureChef Competition

Two Hardenhuish pupils were recently invited to represent Hardenhuish at the South West regional final of SpringBoard’s FutureChef competition at the City of Bath College.

Whilst they were unsuccessful in being shortlisted to the UK final, the organisers commented on “how well behaved and professional they were throughout the competition, and how they also created two wonderful high-quality dishes, setting such a high standard for young people”.

Well done for being such great ambassadors for Hardenhuish.
