Dear Parents
Happy New Year and welcome back to Term 3 2023!
The term has started well and the young people have settled back in to the routines of school after their Christmas break. Thank you for your support in ensuring that they are fully equipped and in the correct uniform. We would be grateful for donations of any pre-loved uniform that young people have grown out of and as you can see below are now able to extend it’s life by selling this through Arbor.
To help our community to stay well, please can I ask that you remind your young people about washing hands frequently, bringing tissues to use and then throw away if they have colds and staying home if you feel they are too unwell to be in school.
Please note below details of the closure of the Chippenham Station footbridge to allow for improvement and accessibility works to take place which may impact on journeys to and from school until the Spring.
The Year 8 have exam fortnight from Monday and I wish them well with their first exams since joining us. Thank you for the support you have given them in preparation for these.

Christmas Concert
On Thursday 15 December we held our Christmas Carol Concert at St Paul’s Church. This was the first one in 3 years and it was fantastic to be back again in the Church and performing to an audience. The evening was full of festive performances from our various ensembles and for some pupils this was their first concert at Hardenhuish. All of the performers rose to the occasion and got everybody into the Christmas spirit. We are looking forward to working with them again over the next term preparing for our Spring Concert.

Information from Great Western Railway
Construction is underway at Chippenham station which will complete the work to make the station fully accessible, with three operational lifts. The work will start properly on Monday 9 January and will take until the Spring to complete.
In order to complete the work the public right of way over the footbridge will be temporarily closed from Monday 9 January – reopening when work is finished. This is necessary as part of the work will be to turn the existing stairs so that pedestrians using the footbridge no longer step directly out into the road. This means that as well as opening the third lift at the station, making it fully accessible to all platforms, this stage of improvement work will also make the public right of way safer to use.
We will have wayfinding notices up this week (part of site set up) which will include information on the alternative walking route, as shown in the attached map.
