Open Week and Open evening last night have been a fantastic opportunity to show off our school to prospective Year 7s and their parents. A big thank you to all of our amazing young people who have acted as tour guides, supported departments or contributed to the positive impression reported back to me by our visitors and to our staff who have worked so hard to prepare alongside their day jobs!
It has been lovely to hear of the successes of some of our Alumni this week. Izzy on the front page of the Observer Magazine and Melissa commentating on Test Match Special! Please encourage any past Hardenhuish students that you know to sign up and keep us in touch via the website with what they are doing.
There are lots of articles below celebrating the successes of current pupils as well. Please do let us know if your young people have something they are happy for us to celebrate by sharing through the Headlines.
Have a good weekend.
Ex-student Isobel Dodd has recently hit the front page of Observer Magazine – what a fantastic accolade for one of our Alumni!
Hardenhuish pupil boxes her way to success
Congratulations to Phoenix Harding who on Saturday 21st August competed in the Open European Championships in Barnsley. Phoenix achieved a gold in full contact kickboxing and silver in boxing.
Due to a no show she did a favour to another kickboxer and agreed to step in the ring, which was above her weight category, in which she achieved a bronze. Well done Phoenix.
Winning Ways! NSEA Inter Schools ODE at Stonar School
Hardenhuish riders were on fine form at the Inter Schools One day event on Saturday.
All riders had commendable double clears in both show jumping and cross country. Amelia Niker won her section with an excellent dressage score of 28.3 on her smart new grey pony. Louisa Niker was 3rd , hot on her heels , with her young pony with a dressage score of 30.8 . Faith Loveridge was 8th with 31.0. All very close. This was a fantastic result especially for Faith who represented the school for the first time as she only joined this September. The team were 1st can first in the 70cm.class; an outstanding result, as there were only 3 in the team instead of 4, and so all scores needed to count. Louisa Niker did incredibly well in the following 80 cms class with a 26 dressage score giving her and Smartie 2nd place.
All riders looked super smart in their new riding kit, generously sponsored by Kingsby Livery Yard.
Congratulations to them all for skilful and determined riding.
Pony Club Championships – Tetrathlon
During the summer, Hardenhuish pupil Miles Hall qualified for the Pony Club Championships Tetrathlon, an event which involves shooting a turning target, running, jumping and riding. Miles’s team came second in the event – a fantastic achievement. Congratulations to Miles and his team.
