Sixth Form Admissions
If you are interested in applying for a place at the Sixth Form, we strongly recommend you attend the Open Evening, taking place on Thursday 7 December 2017, or phone the school to arrange a visit. the Open Evening provides the opportunity to meet with us, our colleagues and current students, to listed to presentations about the wide range of courses we offer and to see our Sixth Form Centre and other facilities.
Enrolment in the Sixth Form is subject to achieving the minimum entry requirements of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (including at least a grade 4 in Mathematics and English Language). For some subjects you need to achieve at least a grade B/grade 6 at GCSE in a specific subject or subjects (as indicated on the subject pages in the prospectus). There is a degree of uncertainty about the standards associated with the new grading system for English and Maths GCSE. As such, where analysis of national performance in these subjects allows, there may be an adjustment to the minimum grades required for access on to particular A Level courses. You can use your predicted grades to plan your subject choices.
An application form should be completed and returned by Thursday 14 December 2017. Subject choices made at this stage are purely provisional, but an indication of subjects in rang order will inform the range and structure of courses on offer in September 2018.
All students applying to Sixth Form will be invited to a guidance meeting with a member of the Sixth Form Team to discuss their options and application. Our Sixth Form has an enviable reputation for successful applications to top universities, in part due to the advice given at the application stage.
