On entry to Hardenhuish Sixth Form you will be following in the footsteps of some extraordinary young people who have achieved above their target grades to secure places on courses at universities of their choice, or entry to the world of work. We can offer an environment, with a purpose built £4million learning centre, where students are ‘inspired to learn, supported to succeed’. Indeed Ofsted have judged Hardenhuish Sixth Form to be ‘good’, stating: “The Sixth Form is good. It offers a wide range of courses, and attainment results at AS Level and A Level have been consistently above average.”
In the Sixth Form, students are given greater responsibility for their own learning and the atmosphere is studious but more informal. Lessons are very interactive and students are encouraged to develop their ideas and understanding. It is a friendly and professional environment where students are valued and treated as adults. Each student is supported by their Tutor, a Learning Manager and Pastoral Managers to help plan an appropriate course of study, monitor progress, provide information and support for life after Hardenhuish. Advice and help on applications to university, college or employment are given, and over 80% of our students go on to study degree courses at university, many gaining entry to top institutions, including Oxford and Cambridge. Each year we arrange a fact finding trip to a university to give students a taste of university life, and students are also encouraged to attend other university open days specific to their chosen pathway.
Our students develop into well rounded young people with high aspirations to fulfill their potential and achieve the qualifications needed to realise their dreams and ambitions. This is reflected by our excellent A Level examination results across a wide range of subjects which have confirmed Hardenhuish School as the highest performing comprehensive school Sixth Form in Wiltshire. Life in the Sixth Form is different from any other educational experiences you may have had but those who make the most of the opportunities available, work hard and follow the advice given, will achieve real success.
