Staff have focused on ICT developments this week with whole staff training to ensure that our teaching and learning makes the best use of Office 365, and several colleagues including myself visiting BETT, the education technology conference to plan future developments. As you may have seen in the local press I attended a meeting at the Department for Education on Monday regarding the National Funding Formula. It was a good opportunity for Wiltshire Headteachers to voice our concerns regarding reductions in Educational Funding. Hardenhuish Pupils Play New Age Kurling

Last week, two Year 9 pupils represented Hardenhuish School at the New Age Kurling County Championships. The competition for KS3-4 pupils, hosted by Lavington School in Devizes, was organised by Wiltshire and Swindon Sports Development team. The team, comprising Zak Harper-Smith and Ben Baker, had qualified for the event in the district event before Christmas. To support our pupils and students to succeed, they are having an assembly during this week and next ‘raising awareness of mental health at Hardenhuish School’. The current support available in school is being signposted – Pastoral Managers, Counsellors, Matron, NHS nurse and the Resource Centre ‘Shelf Help’ scheme (a national reading scheme to support mental health) and information about KOOTH (kooth.com) is being shared. Hardenhuish Year 11 pupil, Kirsty Westwood Allan, was delighted to be presented with a LINX 1010 tablet this week by HR Advisor, Lizzie Donald, on behalf of M+W Group. Kirsty won the fantastic state-of-the-art tablet when she took part in the Year 11 prize draw at this year’s very successful Hardenhuish Careers Fair which took place last month. Hardenhuish School is looking forward to its Korean Club starting up again now the Christmas holidays are over. The after-school club, which has been running since November and is open to all Year 7 pupils, is run by Geography teacher, Mr Mike Sullivan, who lived in South Korea for four years until 2013. Open Days/ Evening and Taster Days 2017

We have organised two Taster Days for Year 5 children who have not had the opportunity to visit with their own primary school.  This year they will run on  Thursday 22 and 29  June 2017.  If your child does not attend one of the schools listed below and would like to visit Hardenhuish School for a day, please click HERE to request a place.
