Hardenhuish Hosts St Nicholas School’s Sports Day!

On Monday 11th July, Hardenhuish School played host to St Nicholas School’s Sports Day. Sixty pupils from the neighbouring school were invited to use Hardenhuish’s sporting facilities and to take part in five different events including javelin, tri-golf, relay, sprints and basketball. Four Hardenhuish Year 12 students have been highly commended for their valuable contribution at last week’s South West Regional Final of the Engineering Education Scheme. As well as achieving the Industrial Cadet Level 3 Gold certificate, they will also be awarded with the Gold Crest Award in recognition of their accomplishment. In total, 20 teams took part in the competition representing both maintained and independent schools from all over the South West. On 27th June, the Rotary Club of Chippenham’s 2016 Young Chef Competition took place at Hardenhuish School in Chippenham. Hardenhuish School has always been a strong supporter of the Rotary Chef competition and this year they fielded 5 candidates who planned interesting and skilful menus using healthy and local foods. Hardenhuish Pupils Set A New Guiness World Record!

On Friday 24 June, Year 7 pupils at Hardenhuish School helped set a new Guinness World Record by participating in the world’s biggest ever reading lesson in multiple venues, which was held as part of the National Book Day celebrations. During the event, 123 pupils read the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows along with author, J K Rowling, who was broadcast on a screen, and hundreds of other schools across the country.
