Hardenhuish’s recent Careers Fair on Thursday 27th November proved a great success as it was attended by more than 30 local businesses, educational institutions and training providers. The inaugural event attracted a wide variety of businesses from Lloyds Bank to Oasis Hair Studio and was sponsored by M + W group. Traffic Management Works

We have been notified by Wiltshire Council that works will commence 5 January 2015 until 27 March 2015 to widen the existing footway on the Eastern side of Hungerdown Lane to form a shared use path (pedestrians/cyclists) between the A4 Bath Road and Sheldon Road. Congratulations have been sent to all staff and students at Hardenhuish School as recipients of UNICEF’S RIGHTS RESPECTING SCHOOL AWARD LEVEL1. This prestigious international standard was awarded following a recent inspection earlier this month during which UNICEF representatives met students, staff, governors and parents. Inspectors toured the school and during discussions the students spoke eloquently about the importance of rights and respect at Hardenhuish School and showed their understanding of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. NATIONAL SHORT STORY WEEK 16– 23 NOVEMBER 2014 Jennifer Sykes 7KED has won Hardenhuish School’s short story competition after submitting a narrative about an unusual discovery in a garden shed! The competition was held during National Short Story Week 16-23 November and keen story writers were tasked with the challenge of writing a short story entitled ‘The Shed’ in no more than 300 words. Hardenhuish Year 8 pupil Conor Irwin’s recent success in a Trampolining and Double Mini Tramp (DMT) International Competition last month saw him making it through to the finals for both events in the UK league. Held at Cambridge University at the beginning of December, Conor finished the meet having scooped 2nd place in the Trampolining final and finished 3rd in DMT. Hardenhuish School’s Year 7 Rugby Team Show Their Class!

A team of talented rugby players in Year 7 at Hardehuish School won the Year 7 Area Rugby Tournament hosted by Devizes School on Saturday 29th November. Fourteen teams from local schools in Wiltshire entered the tournament which was run in two pools, each consisting of seven teams, where all teams in each pool played each other. Hardenhuish School Commemorates World War One Week

Hardenhuish School helped to commemorate the start of the First World War with a special series of activities which ran from 10th until 14th November. The activities were aimed at giving pupils a sense of what the war was like for civilians and soldiers. The week began with assemblies and tutor activities for all year groups to discuss the way that we remember the war and Hardenhuish’s war memorial, which was presented to the school in 1920.
