Hardenhuish Art Students Participate in Bath Spa University’s Ceramics Programme

Corsham Court was the prestigious venue for eight Year 12 Hardenhuish Art students involved with the Bath Spa University Art Ceramic Enrichment Programme 2014, working with Sarah Purvey, an established ceramicist. In addition the students were given a tour of the art collection by renowned sculptor, Professor Michael Pennie. The particpants in the scheme were: Ailish Collins, Sophie Nelson, Madeleine Ramsey, Elliot Waterhouse, Zoe Wariner, Beth Watt, Phoebe Hunt and Grace Vickery. Pupils ‘vote’ in mock Scottish Referendum

Hardenhuish pupils from Years 7 through to 13 participated in a Mock Scottish Referendum during the week leading up to the actual referendum which took place on Thursday 18th September. The mock referendum was organised by the Government and Politics teachers at Hardenhuish School who believed that this was an excellent opportunity to engage the pupils with such an important decision, not only politically, but historically. Three Year 13 Hardenhuish students have been highly commended after entering the University of Bristol’s Engineering Mathematics Challenge 2014. The purpose of the competition was to give students an insight into the Engineering Mathematics degree course and the ground-breaking work that goes on in that department. The University judging panel was extremely excited by the high quality of this year’s competition submissions and highly commended Hardenhuish School’s entry as “a very interesting solution integrating maths, programming and creative ideas”. Hardenhuish School was delighted to host its annual Year 13 Awards Ceremony on Thursday 10th September. The evening was a fantastic opportunity to invite the entire year group back to celebrate another year of outstanding achievement and success before the former students embarked on the next phase of their lives.
