All the Fun of the Games!

More than 1,700 pupils from across the County took part in the third annual Wiltshire School Games at Marlborough College last week. The 500 youngsters from 36 primary schools and 1,200 students from 29 secondary schools featured in the multi-sport event organised by among others, Wiltshire ad Swindon Sport. David Hemery CBE, the 1968 Olympic 400m hurdles champion, England Commonwealth Games judo ace Tom Reed from Devizes and top British Junior Decathlete Joe Hutchinson from Bowerhill were among those lending their support to the event….

Pupils at Hardenhuish School have worked tirelessly during the last month raising money to buy pencil cases for a link school in Jordan. Hardenhuish is proud to be an International School with links to schools in the Middle East as well as the Netherlands and Bangladesh. Hardenhuish recognises the importance of pupils identifying themselves as ‘global citizens’ and the International Schools Committee (ISC) which is part of Hardenhuish’s School Parliament took part in a number of activities last academic year with this focus in mind….

Congratulations to Hardenhuish’s talented Year 10 pupil Will Partington, who broke a long-standing school record at High Jump during this year’s Sports Day. Will’s record breaking performance, jumping an impressive 170cm, was watched by cheering teachers and pupils and broke a school record that had stood since 1982! Will trains and competes with Team Bath and Wiltshire Athletics, but his true ambition is in rugby where we trains with Bath Academy and would love to continue this on to a professional career. Pedal Power!

More than 50 pupils and members of staff took part in Hardenhuish’s first CYCLE TO SCHOOL DAY on Friday 11 July organised by the School Parliament and Green Committee at Hardenhuish School. Inspired by cycling heroes such as Sir Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome and Sir Chris Hoy, the participants took part in the event to raise awareness of exercise for health and the potential benefit of fewer cars on the road!
